A creature for every book
Fourteen to choose from, each in several colours, and you get to name it: a detective, a vampire with a bat trick, a dragon, Nessie in a tartan tam o’shanter, a unicorn, a rose, an alien building a rocket, a teddy, a robot, an owl, an octopus with a quill, a cat, a gargoyle and a ghost.
Make it yours
Pick colours, and for the detective and the vampire, choose skin tone and outfit separately, so your creature can look like you (or your main character).
It grows as your book does
Your first words crack the egg, and it hatches soon after. From there your creature grows up with your word count, and it’s fully grown the day you reach your target.
Moods that follow real days
Happy when you’re on pace, peckish when you haven’t written yet, sad after a missed day. Rest days make it nap, and it never, ever dies.
Know your pace
Words per day to hit your deadline, a projected finish date, your streak and a little chart of the last two weeks.
Sprints with a cheerleader
Set a 10 to 45 minute sprint and your creature cheers you on, then asks how many words you wrote.
Hats, badges and a menagerie
Unlock hats as your lifetime word count grows, earn badges, and keep every finished book’s creature on your menagerie shelf.
A creature in the corner
On Windows, your creature floats in a corner of your screen, on top of Word or Scrivener, so it can watch you write.
The November challenge
Writing a novel in November? Wrytling comes set up for 50,000 words by 30 November. Reach it and you earn the November Novelist badge, a Champion’s wreath only winners can wear, and 25% off in the Bestiary shop.
Show it off
Share cards for social media with your happy creature (or your whole menagerie) and a ready-made caption.
On all your devices
Turn on sync and your words follow you between your computer and phone. Only your word counts and settings travel, never your manuscript.
